The project of health and fitness centre (HFC) including both main function and ice hockey rink was developed based on the principle of low budget construction with maximum use of reliable typical engineering solutions and materials. One should keep in mind that the offered HFC project requires unconditional adaptation to actual conditions of region and qualities of the construction site.

In case the HFC is used for different kinds of sports, which require the height of 8 meters up to lower part of protruding structures of the building (volleyball, basketball, etc.), it is necessary to draw attention of the manufacturer of metal structures to this.

The HFC consists of two basic constructional spaces: the ice arena with the ice hockey rink of the size of 61õ30 meters meeting the requirements of both the RHF (Russian Hockey Federation) and IIHF, and the auxiliary premises ensuring the operation and heavy use of the skating rink. The ice arena can be equipped with the grandgrandstands for 500 spectators. If necessary, the number of spectators can be increased up to 1000, by increasing the length of the hall up to 78 meters.

The auxiliary premises are divided into three spaces: public, auxiliary and technological. In the public area, there is the lobby with the front entrance, the shop with sports goods, cafe, public toilets and rooms for sharpening, repairing and rental of skates. In the lobby, there is the administration, the control center for the basic operation functions of the equipment, communication, fire alarm system, video surveillance and security of the HFC. The auxiliary area is located along the longest side of the building and it includes: 6 locker rooms of total area more than 55 m2, equipped with toilets and shower rooms. Separate rooms are provided for medical personnel and technicians, trainers and servicemen. For adequate work with hockey teams the hall is equipped with 10 dryers of total area 10 to 18 m2. The technological equipment including the ice-sweeping combine is located in the premises along the shortest side of the building.

The project of HFC was developed based on the requirements of Construction Regulations 2.01.07-85* “Loadings and impact” and Construction Regulations II-23-81* “Steel structures” for framework buildings made of metal. Framework of the building is designed completely of metal, consisting of the girder frames, longitudinal girders in the top belts of the frame crossbars, lateral struts in the bottom belts of the frame crossbars, and lateral struts along perimeter of the building, horizontal and vertical wind bracings. Bridge of the building is 36 meters, the bearing structures interval is 6 meters.

The roll-formed shapes of square section, which prop the longitudinal girders for fastening the "sandwich panels" or flooring in case of application of the soft roof of mineral wool heat insulation 150 mm thick, are used in the constructive components of the girder frames of bridging. The bridging frames are assembled at the construction site with the help of hinged and bolted connections, and together with the lattice columns, they represent a one-piece assembly element. Installation of this element is carried out by single lifting crane onto the prepared base.

The building walls are formed by means of the "sandwich panels" with heat insulation 100 mm thick; the variants of self-bearing walls with the subsequent heat insulation and facade finishing as well as the modular and combined variants of solution of the protecting wall systems are possible too.

All metal structures are fabricated in the plant according to the detail drawings developed by the manufacturer, and taking into account the Construction Regulations III-18-75 “Metal structures” and Construction Regulations 3.03.01-87 “Bearing and protecting structures”. The surface of the building framework is painted with the epoxy paint, the total coating thickness is no less than 120 micrometers.
